Notice of Maintenance and Operations Tax

Quail Valley Utility District proposed a maintenance and operations tax election on the November 3, 2020 ballot.

5,229 votes total were cast. 3,160 votes were for ( 60.43%) and 2,069 votes were against (39.57%). The proposed maintenance tax passed.

The funds collected from the maintenance tax are intended for use for operations, maintenance and to rehabilitate existing aging infrastructure, including Water Plants, Sewage Treatment Plant, Sewage Pump Stations, Water lines, Sewer lines and Storm sewer systems.

It is expected that the tax rate will initially be set at $0.15/100 valuation from Fort Bend Central Appraisal District’s certified tax roll for tax year 2021. A separate Quail Valley Utility District tax statement will be mailed out this fall to all property owners and taxes will be due on or before January 31, 2022.

The Tax Rate will be published in the local Fort Bend Independent or Fort Bend Star around August or September 2021, depending on when the Fort Bend County Central Appraisal District certifies the tax rolls to Quail Valley UD. A month after publication, in September or October 2021, the tax rate will be set, no higher than the published rate. Once the rate is set then the statements will be mailed out.

The Fort Bend County Central Appraisal District (FBCAD) has recently sent out property tax values to property owners.

To estimate the amount of tax that may be owed, the taxable value divided by 100 and multiplied by $0.15 should give a property owner an estimated tax amount that would be due.

An example of the calculation would be:

FBCAD appraised value = $100,000

$100,000 divided by 100 = 1000

1000 multiplied by $0.15 = $150

The Maintenance Tax due based on a $100,000 property value would be $150.
